Local woman turns 100-years-old, shares stories about her dialysis journey

SALISBURY, Md. – Mrs. Oretha Nutter marked a major milestone, ringing in 100 years in a non-traditional way, at the Renal Associate Dialysis Center in Salisbury.
She was surrounded by the staff that treat her three days a week.
“They care about us and thank God in heaven that we still have people that care about each other,” Mrs. Nutter said.
Working with Mrs. Nutter for the last three years, Medical Director at the Renal Associate Dialysis Center, Dr. Eric Ofori, is impressed by her sharpness, and amazed that she makes it to the facility, all the way from Nanticoke.
“She’s very strong, mentally. She’s very nice and it’s a pleasure taking care of her,” Dr. Ofori said. “As a doctor, we learn from her all the time, with her experience and knowledge.”
And despite the complications that dialysis can cause, Dr. Ofori said Mrs. Nutter never lets it break her spirit.
“She comes to the treatment. It hasn’t been easy for her, but she comes, and she tries her best,” Dr. Ofori said.
When asked who her favorite nurse is, Mrs. Nutter just couldn’t choose one.
“Duh, They’re all my favorites,” Mrs. Nutter said. “They take wonderful care of us, and doc makes sure of that we get wonderful care.”
