Local elementary school celebrates different disabilities with ‘Rock Your Socks’ day

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – Thursday marked world Down syndrome day, and
one local elementary school decided to shed a light on all different types of disabilities.
Glen Avenue Elementary held a rock your socks day, where students and staff wore their funkiest socks to show their support for their peers.
While the day is all about bringing awareness to down syndrome, educator Anna Krider said she does her best to ensure every student feels accepted, and recognition days like this help encourage students to educate each other.
“Every disability comes with its strengths and weaknesses, and I think it’s our job to make everyone feel like they are a part of this world,” Krider said. “They deserve to be in school, they deserve everything, so we really try to work on that.”
