Harris applauds senate over passing of language on invasive fish
Maryland- Maryland Congressman Andy Harris released a statement where he expressed his approval on the passing of language which looks to address concerns of blue catfish in the Chesapeake Bay.
That language comes as part of a Senate minibus package, which consist of 6 appropiations bills combined into one.
The agreement made will set aside $3 million to award grants specifically for the processing of blue catfish species in the bay. In addition to making wildcaught catfish more widely available for federal purchase.
In a statement release from Harris’ office he said in part quote:
“This, along with other language included at my request to allow for wider federal purchase of wild caught catfish, will go a long way to help contain the invasive blue catfish and restore a balanced, healthy ecosystem to the Chesapeake Bay.”
