Fatal fire in Dover under investigation

DOVER, Del. – One person has died following a residential fire Thursday afternoon in Dover.

Shortly after 1 p.m., firefighters with the Dover Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 800 unit block of Sunset Terrace with an occupant possibly still inside. Officers subsequently forced entry into the residence through a rear door, finding one victim inside. The victim was rescued and taken to Bayhealth Kent Campus, where they died as a result of their injuries.

Firefighters were able to control the blaze just after 2 p.m.

Dover Police and the Dover Fire Marshal’s Office are conducting a joint investigation due to this being a fatal fire.
