Crews battle fire at Selbyville church

SELBYVILLE, Del. – An overnight fire heavily damaged a church in Selbyville.

The Selbyville Fire Department responded to the reported blaze on Clendaniel Avenue just before 12:30, finding heavy fire conditions throughout the Thessalonia Baptist Church. Multiple companies responded to assist, including Roxana, Frankford, Dagsboro, and Millville.

Fire marshals determined that the fire began in the attic space and was caused by an unspecific electrical malfunction. No injuries were reported.

Total damage has been estimated at $250,000.
