BREAKING: Brawl breaks out at Queen Anne’s High School basketball game

QUEEN ANNE’S COUNTY, Md. – The Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff is actively investigating an assault that took place Friday night at a Queen Anne’s County High School basketball game.
47 ABC Sports was at the game and reports that with the Lions down 47-15, early in the third quarter a Lions player reportedly pushed a player from Carver in the back.
It was that push that then led to multiple players immediately confronting each other followed by coaches, staff, and fans rushing the court to separate the players, our sports department reports.
A Queen Anne’s player was removed following the incident, and at least one student that 47 ABC News is aware of was injured in the altercation with blood dripping from their mouth.
In footage obtained by 47 ABC Sports at the game, Queen Anne’s head coach Jeff Holis is seen pointing and yelling at Carver head coach Alvin Parker who was seen yelling back during the incident.
The Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff is currently reviewing video surveillance footage as part of their ongoing investigation into the incident. They encourage anyone who may have witnessed the alleged assault to send an email to rjohnson@qac.org
No arrests have been made at this time as police review evidence and investigate the incident.
“Our players, teams, community, and school staff deserve a safe environment, we have a zero tolerance for this type of behavior at our public events, and we can assure our community that this investigation will be thoroughly completed, and appropriate charges will be done at the conclusion” Sheriff Gary Hofmann said in a statement Friday night following the incident.
47 ABC Sports continues to follow the incident closely and will bring you the latest as soon as additional information is made available.
