Selbyville Mayor announces retirement from Del. Rural Water Association

SELBYVILLE, Del. – Selbyville’s Mayor Rick Duncan has announced that he is retiring from the Delaware Rural Water Association after 34 years of service.

The Delaware Rural Water Association is a non-profit corporation governed by a Board of Directors from rural water systems in Delaware. Duncan says he started the Association in the 1990’s,  which has since emerged as Delaware’s leading water association for technical assistance and specialized training.

Mayor Duncan reflected fondly on his time with the association.

“Delaware was one of the last three states that required water operators to be licensed,” Duncan explained. “And back in 1994 it was representative John Schoroder and Charlie West and Ruth Ann Minner helped me get those bills passed and signed by the governor.”

Duncan will be succeeded by Heather Warren. He plans to spend his retirement enjoying his favorite activities like playing senior softball and fishing.
