School instructional assistant charged with sex abuse of a minor
SALISBURY, Md. – Police have charged an instructional assistant following an investigation into sex abuse of a minor.
The investigation began when law enforcement was notified that an instructional assistant at Wicomico High School was allegedly pursuing and engaging in inappropriate sexual communications and interactions with a minor student. Wicomico County Child Advocacy Authorities worked with Wicomico County Schools to swiftly investigate and ensure that the suspect, 43-year-old, Derrick Davis, was taken into custody before he could enter school premises again.
Davis was placed on administrative leave pending this investigation. He was released on house arrest with electronic GPS monitoring and was ordered to have no contact with minors pending the outcome of the case.
