Round table discussion with lawmakers and farmers on legislation

CHESAPEAKE COLLEGE, Md. – Maryland’s federal lawmakers holding a roundtable discussion, to hear from agricultural stakeholders ahead of work on a new farm bill.

Every two years, lawmakers consider a new farm bill aimed at improving support for local farmers.

This year’s version promotes green practices and Chesapeake Bay Conservation.

One big conversation topic will be the invasive, but also tasty, blue catfish species.

Scientists say it’s destroying the ecosystem by eating crustaceans and small fish that help naturally filter the water.
