Police urge public to drive cautiously on Superbowl Sunday

DELMARVA. – The super bowl is just two days away, and if you plan to celebrate with some alcohol, you should make sure you have a ride lined up.

Last year, the Fruitland Police Department issued over 130 DUIs, and this year they’re hoping to get those numbers down, but not without the public’s help.

Lieutenant Blaine Guard said if you do plan to drink, you should ensure you have a designated driver, or call an uber or taxi, to avoid getting a DUI, or worse.

“You think of my family. I don’t want my family to be struck by a drunk driver, and I don’t want your family to be struck by a drunk driver, or you,” Lieutenant Guard said. “Most of us look at it that way, zero tolerance for drunk driving.”

Lieutenant Guard added that there will be an increased police presence on the roads, on Super bowl Sunday.
