MILFORD, Del. – The Milford Museum, in partnership with the city’s library, is hosting a Black history seminar this Saturday.

The topic is Black women in WWII, and the event is meant to educate the public on the hidden figures who often go under the radar, during conversations about WWII.

The Milford Museum’s Director of Outreach, Thomas Summers, said that while the women were fighting a battle on the field, they were also facing a battle back home. That’s something he says the community will learn about in the seminar.

“I hope they walk away with a knowledge of what these people actually sacrificed in order to win the war,” Summers said. “Not only did they sacrifice, and have to fight with the enemy, but they also had to fight the segregation and the racism that was here at home.”

The event will be held at the Milford Library and will begin at 1:00 p.m.
