Local galleries showcase basketball themed art during March Madness

EASTON, Md. – March is just a day away and that means March Madness is almost here.

To celebrate the month of college basketball, Easton’s Zebra Gallery, in partnership with the Spiralis Gallery, will be showcasing an art exhibit that’s all about the love for the sport.

Artist Shelton Hawkins has a deep love for basketball and travels to gyms across the country, painting basketball courts.

Zebra Gallery owner, Susan Schauer John, said she wanted to give the artist a space to showcase his talents.

“I would love to see people walk into the gallery, who maybe wouldn’t normally walk into a gallery, thinking it was for them, and coming in and thinking, ‘Oh, this is nice, this is home, I feel comfortable here,” Schauer John said.

The show opens Friday, from 5-10PM. Hawkins’s display will be up the whole month of March.
