Helping taxpayers in Maryland with legislative proposals

Marlyand – Maryland Comptroller Brooke Lierman is testifying on a legislative package to support taxpayers in Maryland.

House Bill 454 for Tax Compliance Activity and Binding Data Use would make sure the state is protecting taxpayer data and regulating more requirements on data enclosure. Meanwhile, House Bill 455 would encourage online filing.

“We hope in the coming years that even more Marylanders will take advantage of this service because it is safe for our taxpayers and it allows us to deliver tax returns more efficient way and much quicker,” Lierman said.

Both bills had their first reading, and are currently under review by the House Ways and Means Committee.
