Frederica man arrested on drug charges following traffic stop

DOVER, Del. – A traffic stop early Thursday morning led to numerous felony charges for a Frederica man.

At around 1:40 a.m., a trooper stopped a black Honda CRV on Route 13 in the area of Route 42 in Dover for an expired registration. The driver, identified as 36-year-old Matthew Dunham, reportedly did not provide a driver’s license or proof of insurance to the trooper, and a subsequent computer check revealed that his license was suspended. Police say Durhman was seen going through a lunchbox on the front passenger seat during the stop.

Troopers subsequently searched the lunchbox, finding drug paraphernalia. A search of the vehicle was then conducted, leading police to find a clear plastic bag containing approximately 25.62 grams of methamphetamine.

Dunham was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in a tier 3 quantity, possession of a controlled substance in a tier 3 quantity, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended, and additional traffic violations. He was held on a $40,005 secured bond.
