TOWN OF DELMAR – Delmar Police are alerting community members to protect themselves from scammers.

Delmar Police Chief Ivan Barksley says to read all of the information in an email or text message before clicking on any links.
He also says to be cognizant of any calls coming from a number you do not know.
you should also never give out any personal information to strangers.
“Anything that we can do, especially for our elderly people.”
“A lot of times these people are losing their life savings to these scams, and that is just crazy, so anything that we can do to try to redirect them and prevent them from doing that, we will.”
Chief Barkley says multi-step verification through text messages or email can be a precautionary measure.
