Former owner of Del. drug rehab center pleads guilty to underpaying taxes

DELAWARE – A Milton man has pleaded guilty to making false statements on a tax return.

According to court documents, 58-year-old Amir Mohamed, the former owner of Seaford drug rehab center Addiction Medical Facility, LLC, failed to declare on his federal tax returns all of the income he received in 2021. This means Mohamed underpaid taxes for that year.

U.S. Attorney David Weiss says that Mohamed claimed his taxable income was just over $12,000, when it was actually over $1 million.

Mohamed pleaded guilty in federal court on Tuesday to the single count and now faces a maximum of three years in prison. He is scheduled for sentencing on June 27th.
