FAFSA issues cause delays for USM students

Maryland- The University system of Maryland is delaying decision day for their prospective students.

This decision comes about due to technical hiccups with the new FAFSA application process.

Those issues with the application caused the US Department of Education to announce that that federal student aid payments would not arrive to universities until March.

In response to the delay in payments, USM has announced that will be be pushing back decision day with their universities from May 1st to the 15th.

USM also stated in a release that this delay could cause additional delays for other important dates for students attending USM schools.

Both Salisbury University and UMES are part of the University system of Maryland.
