Emerging Leaders: William O’Donnell

47ABC – It’s time to introduce you to a new emerging leader.

William O’Donnell is an Easton High School senior currently representing Talbot County as a student page for the Maryland General Assembly.

Student pages help legislators stay organized during the session by managing documents, meeting times, and other duties.

William tells us he’s excited to see firsthand how the legislative session works.

But what William says he’s most excited for is the chance to represent his county on the state level.

He tells us it was an extensive process to get chosen as a student page and being first for his county in three years comes with pressure, but his experiences have thoroughly equipped him to excel at his position.

William says he fights for Eastern Shore students!

Being Vice Chair to the Maryland Youth Advisory Council, a position in which he was appointed by former Governor Larry Hogan, and President of the Maryland Junior Classical League has given him the chance to provide a youth perspective to officials in the state.

He wants to continue to share his community’s view as a student page.

William says this rare opportunity is also helping him prepare for the future.

He says he wants to major in public policy then attend law school and eventually work for the government.
