Emerging Leaders: Miguel Alban Guerrero
47 ABC – It’s time to introduce you to another Emerging Leader who is making a difference in the Delmarva community. Meet Miguel Alban Guerrero, the Executive Director of Love Inc. of Mid-Delmarva, and a man we’re told by his colleagues is a change maker.
Love Inc. of Mid-Delmarva is part of a global mission to mobilize local churches to transform lives and communities in the name of Christ. Guerrero took that mission and is going above and beyond.
While Love Inc. has been a growing organization in Delmarva, Guerrero’s passion for helping others has been at the forefront. Between finding resources for individuals and families in need, or creating better partnerships to facilitate those resources, his passion shines through.
However, it’s a passion he tells us isn’t possible without him and those around him using their gifts to help those in need. “If people put their gifts and talents into action, you are for sure going to see a different community and that takes a lot of sacrifice. It’s hard to sacrifice that one hour a week to mentor someone, or those three hours to help in the clothing closet,” explains Guerrero. “The community is not going to change on its own It starts with us, getting involved, so my passion is just seeing people get involved.”
Whether feeding the homeless, finding a place for them to shower, and sleep, connecting families with financial help, finding jobs, or recently seeing someone without a home, work their way up to owning their own. We’re told it’s the outcome of a brighter future that drives Guerrero to keep working to expand those efforts and help as many people as possible. “It’s a blessing to see people just be reunited, people know that there’s more for them in life than the current situation they are in.” Guerrero adds, “Just do the best you can with who is in front of you, you’re not going to change it by yourself. And get together with other people who want to help. Doing it together is much easier than doing it separately.”
While Guerrero remains, humble, and truly believes in the power of working together, he is going to continue leading the efforts of combating homeless, and helping those in need in whatever way he can.
