Salisbury Police investigating fatal shooting on N. Division Street

UPDATE: Police are asking for any surveillance or doorbell footage from residents located in the area where that shooting took place just after 8 pm Saturday, killing 49-year-old Richard Darlington Smith.

Investigators are asking any residences who have external surveillance cameras in the North Division Corridor, including the New Town, Johnson Lake and Emerson Avenue neighborhoods to contact the Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack.

SALISBURY, Md. – Salisbury Police are investigating a homicide after shots were fired Friday night on North Division Street.

According to the Salisbury Police Department, a joint homicide investigation is currently underway by detectives of SPD and the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit.

At about 8:10 p.m., Maryland State Police responded to the 900 block of North Division Street in Salisbury, Maryland for a report of a shooting. According to a preliminary investigation, the victim, a male, was walking down the street when he was shot multiple times.

The victim in this homicide has been identified as Richard Darlington Smith, 49, of Salisbury, Maryland. The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is leading this investigation. Salisbury Police are assisting in this case.
