Wicomico County Health Dept. now accepting mental health walk-in clients

SALISBURY, Md.- The Wicomico County Health Department is now accepting mental health walk-in clients.

The department typically only sees children and adolescents for those services, but they started getting more requests from adults in need.

We spoke with the Physician Deputy Dr. Cynthia Calixte who told us that the process starts with an intake session that takes anywhere from half an hour to 45 minutes. She said from there a client’s medical history and other information is collected to get a better sense of their needs. “We have them see an actual therapist who will evaluate them. They’ll start that process and determine when and how frequent they want to come in based off of that intake. So right away, they’re connected to a professional,” Dr. Calixte said.

Walk ins are being accepted Wednesdays and Fridays starting at 8:30 am. You must have your I.D. and insurance card prior to being seen.

For information, you can contact the health department (410)-334-3497.
