Water outage impacting Town of Federalsburg
FEDERALSBURG, Md. – A water outage continues to impact the Town of Federalsburg.
Federalsburg town officials say the issue began Friday afternoon when a power outage affected the Water/Sewer plant, causing all operating systems to go down for a short period of time. After continued water issues throughout the weekend, it was determined that two of the town’s three wells were airlocked from being drained. One of the two airlocked wells is back online, and the other is being prepped to come back online. We’re told this is the reason water pressure was not restored overnight.
Residents are urged to use any water they get sparingly, as it will take time to fill the lines.
Caroline County Department of Emergency Services is working to acquire water from the National Guard for filling containing. Town staff have gone to stores in Seaford and Denton to get water for distribution to residents.
Additionally, Federalsburg Elementary School and the Federalsburg Judy Center are closed on Monday as a result of the water issue. Caroline County Schools are working to prepare meals for students.
The Town of Federalsburg says it will provide an update once it has a distribution location and time for water pickup.
