Seaford PD officer indicted on charges stemming from off-duty incident

SEAFORD, Del. – A Seaford Police officer has been indicted on multiple charges by the Department of Justice for an off-duty altercation that took place in August.

According to the indictment, on August 23rd, 38-year-old Kyle Linville experienced mechanical trouble while trying to park his pickup truck and attached trailer in a driveway along Oak Road in Bridgeville, subsequently blocking both lanes. When an approaching vehicle was not able to pass, an altercation broke out between Linville and the driver, who was unarmed and remained seated in his vehicle. Linville reportedly shouted obscenities at the victim, scratched the paint on his vehicle, issued verbal threats, and point his handgun at him.

Linville was off duty at the time of the incident and did not tell the victim that he was a police officer.

Linville is being charged with aggravated menacing, harassment, disorderly conduct, and criminal mischief. He has subsequently been suspended.

City of Seaford Police Chief Marshall Craft said, “We are aware of the indictment against our officer for an off-duty incident, which resulted in the officer being placed on suspension and we are cooperating with the Department of Justice in connection with their investigation.”
