Salisbury, OC shelters open due to cold temperatures
MARYLAND – Two local shelters still have availability for those in need of a place to stay over the next few days.
HALO in Salisbury currently has women’s beds available, and additional men’s beds will be added on a walk-in basis until filled Tuesday night. The bed is available for the night, but if a guest would like to stay in the shelter as a guest, they must call and register. Those coming in for the extreme weather will have to leave the next day with their belongings, but they are permitted to come back the following night as long as they notify HALO.
Additionally, the OCMD Cold Weather Shelter is open in Ocean City Tuesday and Wednesday. New guests must call 443-880-5060 to pre-register. If their call goes to voicemail, they must leave a message with their full legal name and date of birth, plus a callback number if they have one. Check in time for the shelter is between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.; anyone arriving after 7 p.m. must contact OCPD for a police escort to the shelter.
We’re told there are no additional overflow beds available at the Christian Shelter in Salisbury, Samaritan Shelter in Pocomoke, or Diakonia in West Ocean City.
