Ice and Oyster Festival making its way to Cambridge
CAMBRIDGE, Md. – The third ever Ice and Oyster Festival is making has made its way back to Cambridge and community members say it was a smashing success.
Co-Owner of Vintage 414 Natalie Brewer says the “Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce started it, and the first year they did it was three years ago and they blew it out of the water.”
People are traveling from all over, cities just to see all of the beautiful ice sculptures that were present at the festival.
Definitely pulls people from all over metropolitan areas of DC, Baltimore and Philadelphia,” Co-Owner Emily Salisbury said. “They usually would not visit if this event did not happen.”
There is live music at the event and ice sculptures that community members can even interact with, like a name carving station and miniature ice hockey.
“People are having fun, people are respectful and enjoying themselves, while bringing life to Cambridge,” Co-Owner Emily Salisbury said. “It is just a wonderful event.”
One family traveled from Taylor’s island for two main reasons.
“We came up here because we wanted to have some fun and eat some oysters, and teach my kids how to love oysters.”
“Plus, get our butts wet on some slides.”
Kids at the event say they are having a blast, even if one got a little camera shy.
“How much fun did you have on the ice sled there?
“Good, So much fun.”
Bella Lang got to enjoy such delicious oysters, with the choice of having them grilled, fried or raw.
Families and community members all said that this years festival has been a huge success.
We are having a fantastic time. I didn’t know it was going to be this much fun, but they really went all out, and it’s all free.
I mean the oysters are not free, but we had smores and slides and everything was free.
