Milford man charged with attempted murder following assault
DOVER, Del. – A Milford man has been arrested on attempted murder charges following an incident at Dover Behavioral Health.
At around 6:45 a.m. Sunday, police were called to the facility for a reported assault. EMS was already at the scene performing life-saving measures on the victim, a 64-year-old Georgetown man, who was later taken to Bayhealth Kent Campus for further treatment. We’re told he remains in critical condition.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect, 29-year-old Derek Chilicas, assaulted the victim, causing serious injuries to his upper body.
Chilicas was charged with first degree attempted murder, strangulation, and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony. He was held at SCI on a $200,000 cash bail.
