MARYDEL, Del. – Delaware State Police arrested a man earlier this week in connection to an attempted burglary at the Marydel Firehouse last month.

At around 11:50 p.m. on December 29th, police say they responded to the Marydel Fire Company for a reported attempted burglary. Troopers learned that several firehouse occupants saw a man running away when they checked on the noises from the front door being shaken. They reportedly recognized the man, identified as 23-year-old Daniel Santangelo, from a previous burglary at the firehouse.

When several members searched for him around the immediate area, Santangelo allegedly tried to get into the building a second time by pulling the kitchen door, but fled when he noticed another person inside.

Santangelo was taken into custody on Wednesday during a traffic stop, at which time he was charged with attempt to commit burglary third degree. He was later released on his own recognizance.
