Laurel woman arrested for making threatening statements to restaurant staff
LAUREL, Del. – A Laurel woman has been charged in connection to a reported hate crime late last week.
Just after 1 p.m. Saturday, police responded to Taco Chabelita in Laurel for a disorderly incident that had reportedly taken place the previous evening at around 7 p.m. It was learned that a woman, later identified as 21-year-old Aiyanna Winstead, placed an order over the phone for food. A 43-year-old family member reportedly went to pick up the order and was disorderly with staff members over the order. She initially refused to leave, but after being asked numerous times, she left.
A short time later, Winstead called the restaurant and started arguing over the order, allegedly making racial statements towards the staff and threatening to shoot them and blow up the restaurant.
Winstead and her family member were taken into custody on Sunday. Winstead was charged with four counts of terroristic threatening and felony hate crime and was later released on her own recognizance.
The 43-year-old family member was charged with disorderly conduct and second degree criminal trespass and was also released on her own recognizance.
