Laurel homicide victim’s family looking for answers, reward offered in case

LAUREL, Del. – It’s been almost three months since Laurel teen, 18-year-old Kylee Robinson, was shot and killed. No arrests have been made in the case and now a reward is being offered in the case.

“There’s just no way that someone could just kill my son like that and be recorded and everybody saw it and I had to even see it and it, nobody knows nothing,” says Kylee’s mom, Danielle Stevens.

Kylee was gunned down back on October 29th in broad daylight. He was visiting friends on a Sunday afternoon on West 7th Street in Laurel.

“He got killed at somebody’s, standing on a porch, he got shot you know, he was at someone’s house,” she explains.

Three people were shot that day, but only Kylee’s life was taken. No answers almost three months later, just a plea from Kylee’s mother Danielle for someone to come forward.

“It was a Sunday, so there had to be somewhere around that someone could have seen two boys running around with winter jackets on and ski masks. It’s no way that you just did not see that,” says Danielle.

Delaware State Police are working with Delaware Crime Stoppers to help solicit from information from the public.

“Delaware Crime Stoppers has offered a reward in an attempt to get additional information for this homicide,” says DSP Cpl. Lewis Briggs.

The reward being offered is $5,000 in case for information leading to an arrest in the case. Delaware State Police believe there were two suspects who fired several rounds, then ran from the scene of the crime.

“It wasn’t fair for my son, he was only 18,” says Danielle.

Less than 24 hours earlier it was a completely different scene as Kylee was getting ready for his Senior year Homecoming.

“Every picture he has this infectious smile,” she reminisced. “You could have the worst day ever and he would say something to you and then he would just smile.”

When he was younger, Danielle says the artist inside him came out, giving him big dreams.

“When he knew that he could draw things, that’s when he said, ‘Mom, you know I’m gonna, Mom I’m going to be an architect. That means I can you know build you a house,'” she recalls. “He was very talented.”

He loved to tell jokes and was even an aspiring rapper.

“Kylee was a very pleasant person, he just had a good spirit and that’s what I will always remember about him,” his mother says.

Kylee planned to graduate from Laurel High School this Spring, but it’s a walk he’ll never get to take. Still Danielle says she’s confidant they will bring the person or people responsible to justice.

“I want them to live their life in that jail and just think about every day how my son will never ever have a chance to think about me. He will never be able to be around us, the people that loved him and cared about him. I want them to always think about that,” says Danielle.

As his family waits for justice, they hope this reward will bring in the tip to crack the case wide open. Delaware State Police are promising a safe way to bring that information in.

“One thing that we want to reassure the public is that if they have information they want to provide and they want to remain anonymous they will remain anonymous,” says DSP Cpl. Lewis Briggs.

When asked what she would say to the public to encourage them to come forward with information, Danielle said, “That’s what I would tell somebody: Do you want to go through that? Do you want to feel that pain and watch your kid suffer?”

Delaware Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 cash reward for information leading to an arrest in the case. The number to call to submit tips is 1-800-847-3333.
