Good Morning Delmarva discusses Audrey Birnbaum’s new book
47ABC – Audrey Birnbaum is a retired physician turned author, who wrote the inspiring book “American Wolf: From Nazi Refugee to American Spy.”
The book dives deep into the true story of her father’s escape from Nazi Germany and his journey to the U.S. at just 11 years old.
Birnbaum tells us she never planned to write a book but felt compelled to tell her father’s story after he passed.
She found over 350 pages of his own notes on his escape that described his struggles in vivid detail.
During the pandemic, she turned her father’s notes into a novel receiving great recognition.
Birnbaum says her father’s story is moving and inspiring for anyone facing hard challenges in their life.
The book focuses on themes of rejection and acceptance, but still is filled with lots of lighthearted moments.
She says you’ll be able to see even more comedic and personable moments in her second book. She says she’s already working on it and calls it the Climb.
