Future Dewey Beach turbines causing community concern
DEWEY BEACH, Del. – The people of Dewey Beach are raising concerns about wind farms being built over twenty miles off the coast.
Town officials and residents met earlier today to voice their concerns about the wind turbines.
Dewey Beach Commissioner Paul Bauer wants visitors and residents to know that town municipalities do not have the authority to shut down the wind turbine leases that are located in federal waters.
“What can we do?”
“There is not a whole lot a town can do, quite frankly,” Bauer said. “We can sue the federal government.”
“That’s an option, that’s expensive, but you know that is always an option.”
Follow the meeting, town Officials tabled the decision to be discussed at a later date.
