Fruitland Community Center receives generous grant, plans to revamp the facility in the works
FRUITLAND, Md. – The Fruitland Community Center received funding to keep the facility strong.
$203,000 in grant funding was gifted from the African American Preservation Program.
President of the Fruitland Community Center, Alexis Dashield, said not only will the funding allow the center to revamp the outside of the building, but preservation of the facility will help the community continue to learn about the rich history on the Eastern Shore, for decades to come.
“There is hardly any history of our contribution, and especially the Fruitland Community Center,” Dashield said. “It is vitally important, today, that our children [and] our community knows our contribution.”
