Emerging Leaders: Benjamin Clifton
47ABC – It’s Monday and that means it’s time to introduce you to new emerging leader.
Benjamin Clifton is a Cape Henlopen Highschool student who’s already planning for the future.
With a strong interest in law enforcement, he’s been working alongside the Rehoboth Beach Police Department as an intern to learn the ins-and-outs of the job.
Benjamin tells us the career counselor at his school thought the internship was a perfect fit for him and says he’s glad he reached out about such a great opportunity.
He says he does a variety of things to help out and gets to see the day in the life of a professional.
He tells us he really likes that there is a nice balance of field and desk work. Plus, every day is uniquely different.
Benjamin also does indoor and outdoor track, surfs, and hunts. He says juggling his extracurricular activities with the internship hasn’t been an issue at all and the police department has been very accommodating.
He also says the best part has been seeing the behind the scenes of law enforcement. It has made him even more enthralled with the profession.
Benjamin says he wants to go to college after graduating and hopes to go into federal law enforcement in the future.
Specifically the U.S. Marshall service or the DEA.
