Emerging Leaders: Abhiram Gaddam

47ABC – It’s Monday so it’s time to introduce you to a new emerging leader.

Abhiram Gaddam is a junior at Parkside High School and a finalist for student member on the Maryland State Board of Education.

This morning, Gaddam stopped by Good Morning Delmarva tell us what it’s all about and how the opportunity can help the youth in the community.

Gaddam says he is honored to be nominated and excited to represent the youth in his area who may feel overlooked.

He tells us the student member of the Maryland State Board of Education raise concerns for students and facilitates communication with educators.

Abhiram says the opportunity is a big responsibility, but he wants to be able to make a difference and be a voice for his peers.

Gaddam is currently campaigning, and his focus is on the importance of extracurricular activities.

He’s currently involved in many clubs such as Mock Trial Team, Stock Market Club, Wicomico County Robotics Club, and several honor societies.

He’s also volunteered at Tidal health, the Ward Museum, and HALO.

Abhiram says students need spaces where they can share their interests with others and feel comfortable.
