Donations being accepted for annual Prom Promise giveaway

SALISBURY, Md. – Prom season may be a few months away but one annual giveaway in making sure local female students have everything they need to make their night magical.

The Prom Promise event allows students across Delmarva the opportunity to choose through upwards of 2,000 dresses. Many of those gowns are gently used and donated from the local community.

PROMISE founder Betsy Affayroux told us the goal is to remove that financial barrier for families. “We also have gowns donated by businesses such as Downtown Bridal and Scher’s Bridal Shop. We get loads of gowns from those businesses brand new,” she said. “We also accept gently worn shoes, brand new makeup, accessories, and hair accessories.”

Over the past 10 years, Affayroux said they’ve been able to provide nearly 1,000 students with gowns.

You can drop off your gowns at Benjamins Wear It Again at 720 E. College Avenue in Salisbury.

Giveaway day is schedule for Saturday, January 27th from 10 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at Parkside High School.
