Crews battle blaze involving multiple EMS vehicles in Milton
MILTON, Del. – Firefighters battled a blaze involving multiple EMS vehicles in Milton Monday evening.
Shortly before 5 p.m., crews were called to the 24000 block of Broadkill Road for a fire involving a vehicle and carport structure. Firefighters with multiple area agencies responded and were able to control the blaze in approximately one hour.
State fire investigators determined that the fire began in the rear of a parked vehicle and was caused by an unknown electrical malfunction. Several Sussex County EMS vehicles were reportedly damaged, with total damage estimated at $100,000.
A Sussex County paramedic was treated and released from an area hospital as a precaution after trying to extinguish the fire and move another vehicle to safety. There were no other reported injuries.
