Community members walk at Salisbury Park to raise cancer awareness
SALISBURY, Md.- Community members gathered at the Salisbury Park for the annual Relay First Lap.
The Relay for Life walk helps raise awareness for cancer and raises funds for research.
Participants walk from the city park all the way to the zoo. Walkers said the chilly weather Saturday morning wouldn’t slow them down.
Erin Kenny recently finished her battle with cancer, and Jacob Kenny lost his father to the disease, so they thought it was important to get involved.
“[It’s] support and for people who are battling, to know that they’re not alone, for people who have lost people, to know that they’re not forgotten,” Erin Kenny said. “It affects everyone and support in any monetary is always helpful.”
The event takes place on the first Saturday of every year, so Kenny said if you weren’t able to make it out this year, you should definitely try for next.
