Weekend carjacking under investigation in Dover

DOVER, Del. – An investigation is underway following a carjacking in Dover Saturday evening.

Police responded to the Hollywood Diner at around 5:30 p.m., meeting with the victim, a 17-year-old female from New York. The victim told police that she was sitting in the passenger seat of a running vehicle when an unknown man got into the driver’s seat and began backing out of the parking lot. The victim reportedly got out of the vehicle in an attempt to escape, and the vehicle continued backing up, subsequently hitting the victim’s legs.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The vehicle was found unoccupied at a Dover apartment complex a short time later. The suspect is described as a male wearing all black clothing.
