Traffic stop leads to weapons charges for Dover man
DOVER, Del. – Dover Police say a man was arrested early Sunday morning after a traffic stop led to the recovery of a firearm.
At around 12:30 a.m., officers stopped an unregistered vehicle in the area of North DuPont Highway and Maple Parkway. It was learned during the stop that the driver, identified as 22-year-old Jose Barcita, was wanted for an unrelated traffic charge. He was subsequently taken into custody, and a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a loaded handgun under the driver’s seat.
Barcita was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon and various traffic charges and was released on a $5,230 unsecured bail.
