Teen arrested after bringing BB gun to Sussex Central High School

GEORGETOWN, Del. – A 17-year-old was arrested after police say they brought a BB gun to Sussex Central High School.

According to the Delaware State Police Department, the incident occurred shortly after 10 a.m., Wednesday as troopers were informed that the student had been showing the firearm to peers, alarming others by repeatedly racking the slide of the weapon.

The Sussex Central High School Resource Officer and Constables intervened, detaining the 17-year-old. Police searched the student and located a BB gun.

The student was transported to Troop 4 and charged with Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony), Possession of a Weapon in a Safe School Zone (Felony), and Disorderly Conduct. He was arraigned and committed to Stevenson House Detention Center on a $2001 secured bond.
