Seaford woman arrested on numerous drug offenses following traffic stop

LAUREL, Del. – A Seaford woman is behind bars on charges stemming from a traffic stop last week.

Just after 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers with the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force were conducting patrols int he Laurel area when they saw a vehicle traveling southbound on Sussex Highway turn onto 4th Street without signaling. A traffic stop was conducted, and contact was made with the driver, identified as 35-year-old Katie Dilworth, and two children in the car. As detectives spoke with Dilworth, they reportedly saw a clear plastic bag between her legs, and she tried concealing it when she was asked to get out of the car. Police say the plastic bag contained a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine and a cut straw.

Dilworth was subsequently taken into custody, and a search of her person and the vehicle led to the recovery of approximately 6.69 grams of suspected crack cocaine, approximately 1.66 grams of suspected powder cocaine, and two Alprazolam pills.

Dilworth was held at SCI on a $21,550 cash bond on a list of drug related offenses.
