Seaford man charged with home improvement fraud

SEAFORD, Del. – A Seaford man has been charged following a reported home improvement fraud.

On Wednesday, a Bridgeville man reported a home improvement fraud to Delaware State Police. It was learned during the investigation that Derek Green, owner of Mason Construction LLC, had previously agreed to build a sunroom addition on the victim’s home, and construction was set to begin in October. The victim reportedly paid Green just over $13,000 for the work, but it was not completed, the contract was not fulfilled, and the victim’s money was never reimbursed.

Green turned himself in on Wednesday and was charged with home improvement fraud over $1500 where victim is 62 years of age or older and theft by false pretense over $1500. He was later released on his own recognizance.
