SEAFORD, Del. – A Seaford man is behind bars following a bank robbery Thursday morning.

At around 9:20 a.m., Seaford Police officers responded to the M&T Bank located at Sussex Highway and Herring Run Road for a reported robbery. When the officer arrived at the scene, a witness reported that the suspect was wearing camouflage clothing and was walking behind the Seaford Village Shopping Center. This information was passed on to other responding officers, who then saw a subject on Jet Avenue and made contact with him. A search of the area led police to find clothing items matching that of the robbery suspect discarded in a dumpster.

After further investigation, the subject was identified as 29-year-old Branden Abbott, who was also confirmed to be the suspect in a similar bank robbery at the same M&T Bank branch on December 13th.

Abbott was subsequently charged with two counts of first degree robbery, two counts of wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, and one count of tampering with evidence. He was held on a $111,000 cash bail.
