Sallies Takes Down Cape In Diaa State Championship Game

NEWARK, Del.-  The Cape Henlopen Vikings’ season ends in the DIAA State Championship Game to Salesianum, losing 45-17. Cape Henlopen got out to a great start,  they recovered a Sals fumble and marched right down the field to score.  Maurki James scored a rushing touchdown giving Cape an early 7-0. The Viking defense had a strong performance in the first half, shutting out Salesianum until just before halftime.

Salesianum finally got on the board when Brady McBridge threw it to William Neumann to tie the game at seven. Cape and Salesianum would be tied at 10 as they entered halftime.

But Salesianum took control in the second half, scoring 28 unanswered points. Salesianum Running Back BJ Alleyne scored three second-half touchdowns to win the 3A state title 45-17.

Cape Henlopen’s incredible run to the championship comes to an end at the University of Delaware. The Vikings were awarded the runners-up trophy which is their first in 39 seasons. Despite the disappointing finish this team will forever be linked together for what they accomplished this season.
