Salisbury man arrested for DUI, firearms offenses in Bridgeville
BRIDGEVILLE, Del. – A Salisbury man was arrested Tuesday morning on numerous charges stemming from a traffic stop.
At around 10:30 a.m., Delaware State Police say they were patrolling Mill Park Drive in Bridgeville when they saw a white Volkswagen Jetta driving towards them on the wrong side of the road. Troopers were able to avoid being hit by the Jetta and subsequently turned around, initiating a traffic stop. The Jetta reportedly refused to stop initially, but eventually stopped on Coverdale Road.
When troopers made contact with the driver, identified as 32-year-old Marcus Echard, they noticed signs of impairment. A search of his person led to the recovery of drug paraphernalia, and troopers found a concealed handgun and additional drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
Echard was arrested on numerous drug and firearm offenses, including DUI. He was held at SCI on an $18,210 cash bond.
