Parents graduate from Latino Family Literacy Project
FRANKFORD, Del. – Parents of John M. Clayton elementary students completed the Latino Family Literacy Project.
The program aims to help Spanish speaking parents to be an active part of their child’s education.
School principal, dr. Allissa Booth, said all the work the parents put into their learning during the program will reflect in their child’s performance in the classroom, and hopefully empower them, in turn, to be exceptional students.
“I think it’s going to make them more confident, because they know that their parents are working for them. They’re working for their parents; they’re working hard for their teachers in the classroom, and I think it just builds something inside of them to share their thoughts and their learning with their peers,” dr. Booth said.
This was the fifth year of the program. Dr. Booth added she’s already looking forward to the next group of parent learners.
