Law enforcement urging public to drink responsibly this holiday season

SALISBURY, Md. – Local law enforcement are cautioning folks to drive sober this holiday.

Corporal Zachary Douglas with the Fruitland Police Department says if you do plan to drink at holiday parties, make sure you don’t pick up your keys to drive home. Asking a friend to be a designated driver or finding a ride share are a couple of ways to avoid a DUI, or a fatal accident.

“We will be out; I know state police are going to be out to crack down on the drunk driving,” Corporal Douglas said. “There are a lot of options today that you can use to not get behind the wheel once you’ve had too many drinks. Uber, Lyft or Taxis, the options are there.”

Making sure you don’t over consume during the holidays is another great way to ensure safety.
