FRANKFORD, Del. – A Frankford man is behind bars on charges stemming from a death investigation that began last week.

Shortly after 1 a.m. on November 24th, troopers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of a residence in the 30200 block of Frankford School Road. It was learned that 22-year-old Gabriel Dorman and a 20-year-old man were riding a four-wheeler on Frankford School Road when it was hit by a Mercedes Benz SUV. The two men were reportedly thrown from the four-wheeler.

Dorman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 20-year-old was taken to an area hospital for life-threatening injuries.

Further investigation revealed that the initial report of shots fired was unfounded, and 38-year-old Jeremiah Handy was identified as the driver and sole occupant of the SUV. Handy was taken into custody at his residence on Friday, at which time he was charged with first degree murder, attempt to commit first degree murder, and two counts of possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony.

He was held at SCI on an $850,000 cash bond.
