Emerging Leaders: Palmer Gillis

47ABC – It’s time to introduce you to a new Emerging Leader.

Palmer Gillis is founder of Gillis Gilkerson, a construction management company, on Delmarva.

Gillis is also an active leader in the community, serving on multiple community boards such as the Salisbury Wicomico Chamber of Commerce, Salisbury University Foundation, Greater Salisbury Committee, Salisbury Wicomico Planning and Zoning, and many more!

Recently, he was awarded the Hall of Fame Award by the Salisbury Area of Commerce for his contributions.

Gillis sat down with us to discuss what it felt like to receive such a huge recognition after over 40 years in business.

Gillis says he started working for a commercial general contractor, but when he turned 30, he got the courage to start his own company.

He tells us that he wanted to provide construction services differently especially when it came to dealing with customers.

Gillis feels like he’s made a huge difference over the years in downtown Salisbury especially regarding its urban development.

Now, he is focused on development and is currently working on the Edward Q. Wilgus Community Clinic. He says he’s proud to be working on an outreach project because it will make a huge impact on the community.
