GEORGETOWN, Del. – Caroling on the Circle in Georgetown kicks off Thursday night, and for the 40th anniversary, Sussex County Government and the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce are teaming up to make this year extra special.

The Caroling on the Circle campaign will kick off the annual Christmas parade for the first time. In the past they’ve been held on separate nights, but a big night of holiday merriment will start at 6 p.m. Caroling, parades, the lighting of the tree, and the Pack the Pod food drive will be set up at the circle as well, creating a wide-reaching effect across Sussex County.

“We raise non-perishable food items for local food banks here in Sussex County and all the items we collect stay here in Sussex County, and they go to about a dozen and a half food closets, community food pantries things of that nature in Sussex County to help families in need,” says Chip Guy, Communications Director for the Sussex County Government. He adds that while this is the first year of combining all events in one night, they’re hopeful it can continue.
